In Ritualgegenständen:
An investigation revealed that religious supply companies, candle shops, and folk pharmacies or botánicas were selling candles flavored with mercury and vials of liquid mercury to be burned in candles, sprinkled around rooms, or consumed as a home remedy. The candles and sprinkled mercury are often used in the rooms of children and infants to bring good luck and protection from evil.

In Wandfarbe:
Public health officials drew the connection between mercury hazards and house paint in August 1989, when a 4-year-old Michigan boy developed acrodynia, a rare form of childhood mercury poisoning. Investigators discovered the boy had inhaled mercury vapor from interior walls covered with water-based (latex) paint containing phenylmercuric acetate, a mercury-laden preservative.

The Tantrik period had an entire system called " Philosophy of Mercury". Mercury was thought to be composed of the five natural elements (air, water, sky, fire and earth) and to represent Lord Siva himself. One Tantrik alchemist held that mercury rubbed with certain ingredients and roasted in a closed crucible acquired the power of turning a base metal into thousand times its weight of gold. And that copper, treated with the above preparation of mercury and rubbed with the acids and alkalies and the milky juice of the calotropics gigantea plant, and roasted in a crucible turns into gold. The Rasaratnakara of the Buddhist scholar Nagarjuna explains various ways to "fix" mercury, but had this prescription as well: mercury is to be rubbed with its equal weight of gold and then (the amalgam) further admixed with sulphur, borax etc. The mixture is then to be transferred to a crucible and its lid put on and then submitted to gentle roasting. By partaking of this elixir (i.e., the sublimate) the devotee acquires a body not liable to decay.

Als Kosmetik:
Thus too it is that while the preparation called Kajjala (made of mercury, melted sulphur and other ingredients) had a pleasing colour and was used as an eyewash and cosmetic (surma). It caused severe reactions and occasional damage to the eye surface. Again Nagarjuna's elixir could not have produced a decay-free body; rather it would have harmed the applicant more than helped him.

Als Psychopharmakum (gegen Hypochondrie) eines amerikanischen Präsidenten:
They then delved into historical records and found that Lincoln indeed took a medicine called "blue mass" or "blue pill", commonly prescribed for mental distress syndrome called hypochondriasis. Unfortunately, Lincoln suffered from this, and took the blue pill to fight melancholia. The blue pill contained finely dispersed elemental mercury. Actually, the blue pill is more a toxin for the central nervosu system than an emollient. Lincoln did suffer the neurobehavioral effects of mercury, which was was detailed in the memoirs of some of his close associates. Fortunately enough for American history, this was before the main years of his presidency. As the article points out, he was astute enough to recognise the effects and stop the pills soon after his inauguration as the 16th Prseident of America (which was seven score and one year ago), as they "made him cross".

Als Zeichen für Shiva, einen Hindugott:
Most unusual was the 108 kg mercury Shiva Lingam which was prepared with an ancient alchemical, shastric formula for solidifying liquid mercury.

Hier noch mehr, falls man Quecksilber mal als ayurvedisches Therapeutikum nehmen möchte :D: Rasa Shastra the Alchemical Science of Mercury as Medicine

Rasa shastra or the Science of Rasa, became the backbone of Ayurvedic Alchemy.
Rasa, is one of the many names given to mercury. Another name used for mercury is, Parada. Mercury is considered to posses all six tastes and properly prepared, to promote optimal nutrition and health of all tissues of the body.

Im "Elixier der Unsterblichkeit:
Many of these substances, far from contributing to longevity, were actively toxic. Jiajing Emperor in the Ming Dynasty died from ingesting a lethal dosage of mercury in the supposed "Elixir of Life" conjured by alchemists. British historian Joseph Needham compiled a list of Chinese emperors whose death was likely due to elixir poisoning.
