I understand only little German and am therefore writing in English for which I apologize in advance.
I have seen that the users of this forum have a lot of knowledge and information on dental topics. Therefore, I would very much appreciate any information on the following:
- The most important for me: I have just been diagnosed with osteomyelitis ("nico") and am now looking for an oral surgeon in Germany, Austria or Switzerland with a lot of experience and good results on this field. I would love to hear your experiences and would be very thankful for any recommendation.
- I have also been planning to have my two amalgam fillings removed for some time now. On this forum I saw that Dr K, dr R, dr O take all the necessary precautions (I hope I understood right :) ). However, I do not know which dentists these abbreviations stand for. Any suggestions which dentist to go to in Germany or Austria? Do they pay attention to biocompatibility of the materials used in new fillings as well?

I apologize if such topics already exists - due to language barriers I am unfortunately not able to understand much.

Thank you very much in advance for your help!

Have a great day,
Sunflower

Hello sunflower,

how much German do you understand? Would you understand answers in German? This would certainly encourage users to answer your qestions.

Have a great day, too.

Hello Uta,
Unfortunately I don't understand much German. :( Therefore, it would be much easier for me for the answers to be in English, but I could certainly ask one of my friends to translate replies from German, too. So I would very much appreciate any answers, in English or in German. I will just not be able to reply to the ones in German right away as I will depend on the translation.
All the best, Sunflower

Hello Sunflower12,

you understood it right those dentists are among the few who know how to act upon osteomylitis. About
removing amalgam fillings with all the necessary protective gear I am not certain which one of those dentists
cares about mercury vapor which is very commonly overlooked and not regarded as a serious health risk.

Any suggestions which dentist to go to in Germany or Austria?

I know of a dentist T. in munich who is fond of Dr. Clark and should also be sufficient in this matter.

So far I only can tell about Dr. O. She does good work. About the others I just know that their prices are a bit too high for my budget....

Do they pay attention to biocompatibility of the materials used in new fillings as well?

Sunflower

I know only of two dentists who test themselves for biocompatibility: Dr K. in Munich and Dr S. in Speyer. Maybe also Dr T.
What methods they specifically use I can't say

However, I do not know which dentists these abbreviations stand for.

Sunflower

You probably wonder why the dentist's names are only abbreviated and one could even assume
that it may be a "Harry Potter/Lord Voldemord"-thing where all german speaking natives are forbidden
to mention their dentist's names...

Well,
that is of course not true. I think it's because they just don't want to be mentioned.
But personal messages are the way to communicate that.

Anyhow

May I ask who diagnosed nico and why you are looking for a practitioner in Germany/Austria?

Greetz,

Stelvio

Hello Stelvio,
thank you so much for your answer. I really appreciate all the information!

Nico was diagnosed by dr. D in Vienna (I guess I have to stick to abbreviations then, too :) ) and I am (unfortunately) sure that the diagnosis is correct. I am aware that osteomyelitis is hard to treat/cure and therefore do not mind making a few hundred kilometres for a good oral surgeon. As I will be in Germany in the following month, I was considering having a treatment there or in the neighbouring Austria/Switzerland. However, if anybody knows for an oral surgeon anywhere else in Europe who does a good job on nico lessions, I would very much appreciate such recommendation as well.

Stelvio, if you don't mind, I would send you a personal message - I would be thankful if you could help me out with the abovementioned abbreviations.

Thank you once again for your help!

All the best,
Sunflower

Thanks to someone who has translated this for me :).

@Stelvio, ist Dr. T. zufällig italienischer Herkunft? Gibts es hier Erfolgsberichte/ Threads? Danke schon mal...
